What to See & Do

1. Walk the Sand Patch Loop Trail: A gentle 1.9 km loop trail loops out from the main carpark along paved paths and wooden boardwalks. Along the route, interpretative displays detail how wind energy works, alongside six mosaics celebrating the local Noongar six seasons.
2. Take the Staircase to Sandpatch Beach: For energetic visitors, a steep timber staircase descends the coastal cliff face toward Sandpatch Beach—a popular local spot for experienced surfers and fishermen.
3. Catch a Coastal Sunset: Due to its elevated western orientation, the Albany Wind Farm is one of the top sunset viewing locations on WA’s south coast, casting giant shadows and golden light across the turning blades.

Getting There

From Albany city centre, drive southwest along Frenchman Bay Road for roughly 5 km, then turn right onto Princess Avenue. Turn left onto Sandpatch Road and follow it to the end carpark. The drive takes approximately 15 minutes.

Traveler Tip: The coastal cliffs are notorious for sudden ocean surges and heavy weather. Always stay on designated boardwalks and lookouts, bring a windproof jacket, and exercise extreme caution near rock edges.
